AFABW Takes Part in National Night Out

Every year there is an event to validate the good work of police and firemen in the LA Area – and what they do to make a safer community.

This year AFABW members had a booth at Little Landers Park in Tujunga – where the local people came together and shared the festivities – with booths from local vendors and groups.

LA Chapter Director Lallah Rowe manned our kids arts table and this year the theme was Get High on Art Say no to Drugs, a popular project that gets out the message to do art, not drugs. Lallah also handed out 25 or our coloring books with this theme that she designed – and some colored in it right on the spot. While others did their own drawings on paper.

AFABW President Barbara Cordova was at the reception table and gave out our promo and newsletters – and Truth About Drugs books. While Rob Oliver helped with assembling packs to give out. Also promoting AFABW and handing out the books were Lynda Hubbard, Susan Stroh and Lauren Perreau. There were a total of 280 books gotten out. People were in agreement to do arts and stop drug use.

AFABW member Susan Stroh wrote special poems for Police and Firemen and one of them was read on stage by Lynda Hubbard and presented to them for their good work.

We met local artists and art supporters who have interest in AFABW and will be in contact with them on future events.

Barbara got interviewed by the Crescenta Valley Weekly, a local paper, and told them all about AFABW and our purpose to make a better world through Aesthetics and social betterment. https://www.crescentavalleyweekly.com/
