The AFABW Florida chapter teamed up with the Imagine Museum in St. Petersburg and produced an event on September 16th entitled “Freedom of Expression.”

The event was very timely with all that is going on in the world and violations of this Freedom. And in our true style we combined the power of aesthetics with the message of Human Rights!

The event kicked off with a talk about the importance of aesthetics by Museum founder, Trish Duggan, who stated: “Creative expression must be maintained as a priority on planet Earth. I encourage everyone of you to ‘Make Creativity Great Again.’”

As everyone entered there was an array of beautiful art from our members, adding even more art to the museum.

There was a reception with music by Kirby Jones and Greg Smith. Then Roger Harrison played piano while Angel Kourkoulou painted live to his music.

David Flatt, Museum Director, gave a talk, then introduced Richel Lavette Lewis, AFABW Florida Chapter Director.

Marc Bosserman kicked off the showcase getting everyone to sing along to Let it Be by the Beatles.

Then Barbara Cordova, AFABW President and event Producer, talked about how AFABW has used the arts to promote Human Rights over the years.

Performances continued with Wicked Muse, Academy of Ballet Arts dancers, Bryan Craft, Barbara Cordova, Sabri DeJongh, and Grand Finale with Barcode ending with the song God Bless the USA, joined by the performers all waving American Flags and singing along.

Attendees got Human Rights books, and at the end there was more interest in taking part in AFABW activities and more of a connection made with the Museum.
